For vehicles priced over $100,000, the Canadian Federal Luxury Tax may apply and is calculated as the lesser of 10% of the total vehicle price or 20% of the amount exceeding $100,000, with luxury tax applied before HST and calculated on the vehicle's price plus any manufacturer before-tax rebates. Dealer discount portions are not subject to luxury tax, meaning luxury tax applies to manufacturer incentives and the portion of the sale price above $100,000 only. Used vehicle purchases paid by certified cheque, wire transfer, or bank draft may be subject to an additional fee of $1,500, and vehicles sold AS-IS are not eligible for financing.
