RAM 1500 Safety Features: Everything You Need to Know

RAM 1500 Safety Features

With a large number of driver-assistance safety features being made available on the RAM 1500, it's easy to get confused about what each technology is doing, whether or not it is actually helpful for you, and definitely whether or not it is worth the money if it's an additional add-on. That's why we at Hunt Chrysler have broken down the RAM truck safety features to help you understand what they are and what they do to assist you. Let's get started.

It's worth noting that there are more than 100 standard and available safety and security features in the RAM 1500. These include the standard - and expected - airbags and high-strength steel frame to help protect in the event of an impact, and expand into the safety technologies that are emerging on pretty much every new vehicle that is currently on the market.

Blind-Spot Monitoring

The Blind-Spot Monitoring system is an available feature that can alert you to the presence of a hidden vehicle in your blind spot. It'll even alert you when a vehicle in your blind spot activates its turn signal. The Blind-Spot Monitoring system includes the Trailer Detection function to automatically calculate the length of your trailer and add it to the blind-spot detection range so you have that extra coverage while towing. It's one less thing to worry about when towing an extra load behind you.

Forward Collision Warning

Forward Collision Warning is also available and activated when it senses a potential collision ahead. When the system senses that your approach speed is too fast it will activate both audio and visual warnings to alert you to the potential hazard and give you an opportunity to correct. If you don't respond at first, the system will "stab" the brakes to give you a more substantial warning. If you still don't respond, the brakes will be fully applied by the system for maximum deceleration.

360-Degree Surround View

360-degree Surround View allows you to see your RAM 1500 as if you were above it. This allows you to see all sides on the UConnect screen so you can easily park, prepare to load and unload, and hook up a trailer. There's also the available Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist and Park-Sense Front and Rear Park Assist to complement the surround view and have you parking like a pro.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go can slow your truck to a complete stop. ACC can apply the throttle or brake as needed to keep pace with the vehicle ahead using your pre-selected distance and will maintain that distance even when traffic comes to a full stop. It will not, however, perform "panic stops" at high speeds.
